When I was barely school age, I had one outfit I would never stop wearing. Where some children would wear princess dresses and superhero costumes, the only thing I wanted to be was an animal. Any animal! I had a unicorn outfit that I absolutely loved and wore until it no longer fit me. This would be the start of my love for animals and costumes.
At 16 years old, I had ambitious dreams of getting a fursuit made. However growing up in an environment where I couldn't afford such a luxury, I had to scrape together as much money as I could to get my dream $4000 fursuit (expensive I know!). After a few months into saving and I only had $300. With my sight set on buying a full fursuit, I thought that I could never make it. Truth be told, that was the best realization I would ever have come to. Since my goal was so far out of reach, my mom had asked "why not make your own if they're all handmade?"
My mother's inquiry had led me to my epiphany. "Why don't I make my own fursuit? I know how to sew, I know how to use a glue gun!" armed with my newfound motivation, and the $300 in my piggy bank, I bought the materials to make my first fursuit. it wasn't pretty, it wasn't the best, but it was a start, and most importantly, it was mine.
Now at the age of 24, I have made over a dozen fursuits, animal costumes and the like. I also made twice as many ears, tails and paws for folks all over the world, and still going strong, all for the sake of making handmade costumes just for you!
